Floating Points – Corner Of My Eye
Floating Points shifts away from the club-centric dance music he’s been making recently, moving back into jazzy contemplation with the seven-minute “Corner Of My Eye”. The UK producer builds the track on live percussion and tingly vibraphones, working in the same reflective territory as Promises, his 2021 collaboration with the late Pharoah Sanders and the London Symphony Orchestra.
The blissed-out track turns inward, delivering a meditative listening experience that gives space to breathe, drift, and reflect. It’s a homecoming for fans who gravitate toward his jazz-leaning side over his club productions. Floating Points released the dance-focused album Cascade last year and teamed up with Fred again.. a few months ago on the single “Ambery”, but “Corner Of My Eye” brings him back to the atmospheric sensibilities that defined his best work.
Live instrumentation and subtle musical textures create a gentle piece that moves listeners away from the dance floor into more introspective soundscapes. Floating Points has always been comfortable moving between these worlds—the adventurous producer knows how to make people dance and how to make them sit still and listen. “Corner Of My Eye” is built for the latter, sweeping along on vibraphones and percussion that recall the spiritual jazz influences he explored so successfully with Sanders.
